Water-based colour stain with Catechu for colouring wood.

Catechu is obtained from the heartwood of the Gerber acacia tree boiled with water and produces an intense brown colour that penetrates deep into the wood. The stain mainly colours the harder parts of the wood (late wood) and is a positive stain. The intensity of the colour can be reduced by diluting with water.

For better processing, it is recommended that the wood is moistened with a sponge and warm water before the staining process and then allowed to dry. The wood can be treated with oils, waxes or clear varnishes to provide additional protection.
